The master controller is responsible for the transfer of data flow between the host and the wire-to-board connector device. These transmission data are treated as successive bit streams. Each device is provided with one or more interfaces that can communicate with the client program. Each interface consists of one or more pipes that independently transfer data between the client program and a specific terminal of the device. The wire-to-board connector D establishes the interface and conduit for the actual needs of the host software. When a request for equipment is made, the master controller provides service according to the parameters provided by the host software. The wire-to-board connector supports four basic data transfer modes: pilot transfer, isochronous transfer, abort transfer, and block transfer. The lsochronous transmission type (or synchronous transmission) supports data transmission between a peripheral and a host with periodicity, limited delay and bandwidth, and a constant data transmission rate. This type has no error checking, so it cannot ensure accurate data transmission. It supports data transmission with host computers such as CTI and audio systems. The abort transfer type supports input devices such as gamepads, mice, and keyboards. These devices have a small amount of data transfer with the host, no periodicity, but are sensitive to the response time, and the request is responded immediately. The Bulk transmission type supports peripherals such as printers, scanners, and digital cameras, which transmit a large amount of data to and from the host. The wire-to-board connector transmits this type of data only when the bandwidth is satisfactory. The control transmission type supports the transmission of control, status, equipment and other information between the peripheral and the host, and provides a control channel between the peripheral and the host. Each peripheral supports a control transfer type so that equipment and command/status information can be transferred between the host and the peripheral. The wire-to-board connector uses a tiled bandwidth allocation scheme, and if a peripheral exceeds the current bandwidth allocation or a potential request, it cannot enter the device. Terminals of the synchronous and suspended transmission types conserve bandwidth and ensure that data is delivered at a certain rate. The concentration and control terminal transmits the transmission data according to the best available bandwidth.
