Specializing in the sales of: Connectors | Wire Harness | Cable Products

Control cabinet applications in the North American market require specific testing and certification. In power supply applications, the design must comply with UL2237 standards. Based on this standard, Binder introduced the 823 and 824 series of small cable connectors. Binder, as one of the major suppliers of industrial circular connectors, has introduced the 823 and 824 series of cable connectors to the North American market. The K-coded and L-coded M12 products with screw wiring are specially developed for power supply applications, and they meet the requirements of the industry-relevant protection class IP67, that is, dust protection and temporary immersion protection.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 5-core K-encoded connector is especially suitable for alternating current (AC) transmission, such as drivers and frequency converters requiring 630V (AC) and 12A. The 5-core L-coded connector is suitable for direct current (DC) small drivers, distributed I/O modules and various other direct current (DC)-powered automation components connected to the fieldbus system. Its rated voltage is 63V and rated current is 16A. 2. Background of UL 2237: The electromechanical interfaces of control cabinets used in the North American market need to obtain corresponding certification according to UL2237 and UL2238 standards. UL2238 specifies cable assemblies and connectors used to transmit signals, and UL2237 also adds additional requirements for power transmission, such as power supply to drivers. It includes specifications for connector testing, safety components such as cables and cable glands, etc. A special feature of UL2237 is the so-called ground current test: based on the cross-sectional area of the connecting cable, the ground protection (PE) must withstand a current of 190A (AAWG16) or 300A (AWG14) within 4 seconds without breaking the circuit. In alternating current applications, abnormal overload tests must also be carried out: experiments with 1.5 times the rated current. If the ground (PE) fuse is not blown, it is considered to pass the test. 3, 823 and 824 series detailed specifications: Binder 823 and 824 series products include needles and hole heads and corner connectors. These connectors have a rated voltage of 630V and a rated current of 12A (K-coded; 4 + PE); Rated voltage 63V, rated current 16A (L code; 4 + FE-functional ground). It has M12 threads, outlet diameter 8-13mm, and uses screw wiring. In order to comply with UL2237, the PE contact is connected to the threaded ring contact, and this certification is currently in preparation. 4.
