JAE | Japan Avionics | JAE Connectors The WP56DK series connector product is a: High-performance compact wearable devices such as smartwatches, which have much smaller PCBs inside than smartphones, require much smaller and denser components to be used in these devices. While the overall device size is decreasing, the functionality and features found in these devices continue to evolve and grow, further emphasizing the need for higher density components such as connectors. For smartphones, the mounting space for connectors is getting higher and higher due to the increasing number of camera modules. To meet these demands, JAE has introduced the 1.6-mm wide WP56DK series of board-to-board (FPC) connectors with 0.3-mm terminal pitch, the narrowest in the industry. By reducing the terminal pitch to 0.3 mm (a reduction of 0.05 mm compared to our conventional connector), the connector length of the 30-position connector will be reduced by 0.7 mm. This product features our standard multi-function press, which can be used as a power terminal to reduce overall pin count and connector size. In addition, the hold-down device includes protective metal fittings that provide armoring on the mating and inner surfaces of the insulator for ultimate strength and reliability. Due to this structure, the connector improves operability during alignment and mating.
