Durmalon surface treatment (an alternative to cadmium) is RoHS compliant and resistant to 500 hours of dynamic salt spray attack. Commercial, industrial, and military markets are rapidly moving away from restricted substances such as cadmium (Cd) and hexavalent chromium [Cr (VI)], both of which are toxic and known carcinogens. Like the olive cadmium coating (Class W), Durmalon can withstand 500 hours of dynamic salt spray spray and has a 500 plug-and-unplug life, meeting the specified millivolt drop shell-to-shell conductivity. In addition, the durable AP-93 coating meets REACH/RoHS requirements, is suitable for aluminum connectors, performs better than cadmium, and exceeds the salt spray tolerance requirement of 1000 hours. AP-93 is a conductive coating that can meet or exceed the requirements of D38999 cadmium, making it an excellent choice for harsh environments. Amphenol Aerospace's commercial Class L heavy-duty connectors are commercially equivalent to the largest size cylindrical MIL-DTL-22992 qualified connectors. These connectors are only available in specific configurations defined by the MIL-DTL-22992 specification.
