Mini-Fit Sr. Power Connectors Molex's high-power connectors offer four contact points and ensure excellent contact reliability The Molex Mini-Fit Sr. compact 10 mm high-power connector system is available in silver (Ag) or gold (Au) and can withstand currents up to 50 A. The series offers 2 to 14 loops in the range of 8 AWG to 16 AWG. Due to economic, ethical and environmental concerns, the electronics industry is replacing gold with alternative electroplating materials on connectors. Although noble metals such as palladium (Pd), iridium (Ir), and platinum (Pt) have good corrosion resistance, these metals are not practical due to availability and cost reasons. Silver, a precious metal with corrosion resistance as well as good electrical and mechanical properties, has been recognized by industry standards as a viable and less costly alternative to gold plating.
