USB connector development trend

Due to the limited ability to receive and transmit data to the outside world, any computing device can significantly delay the operation of the device. Data bottlenecks on the input/output (I/O) panel will limit information transfer and make the device less productive. What has changed over the years with 15 and 25 pin D-sub connectors is that it can provide sufficient I/O transfer data rates for peripherals. These mil-spec connectors originated in military applications and feature reliable pin-pin and socket connection points and a rugged housing. Modify these mil-spec connectors to commercial versions and adjust the price to the consumption level to make it an actual consumer product standard. At present, it has been widely used in video, computer accessories and other products. As the demand for data rates increases from kilobits to megabits, there is room available for reducing external connections, so a new connector interface is needed. In 1996, USB1 was formed by electronics industry leaders and consortium organizations. At that time, USB1 with a low bit connector transfer rate was used. One of the main advantages of the USB standard is that it can transmit both power and signals at the same time, so that remote devices can work without an external power source. Hot-swappable capability is another key feature of the USB interface. The USB-IF organization does not comply with existing standards, and the USB4 specification was released in September 2019. The connector will remain a Type-C interface, but will integrate Intel Thunderbolt 3 and 40GB/S transfer rate technology. USB4 is compatible with USBType-C protocols, including USB3.2. Displayport and Thunderbolt 3, simplifying connectivity for new generation devices. This new interface device is expected to appear in 2021. The USB-IF organization demonstrates its commitment to continuous upgrades, enabling USB to continue to play a key role in the design of next-generation devices.
